We are confident that a week serving will forever change your life and how you see the world and will be a catalyst for you to be a world changer back at home.

FAQS

Where are we going?

We will be working with various organizations in northern baja.
There are approximately 10,000 street children in Northern Baja Mexico. While there are many reasons children are dropped off at orphanages daily, one of them is simply because their families cannot afford to raise them. They are in need of help!

We believe that everyone has a desire to know their lives matter and can make a difference in this world. This is especially true among teenagers. We have seen both high school students and adults become more alive as they join God in what he is doing in this world- caring for the poor, orphans, and widows. When we serve, our lives are impacted and changed as well as the lives of those with whom we interact.

It is our hope that these trips are a catalyst to help us live more intentionally focused on God and others when we return home. Mexico is a reminder that our lives do matter and that we can ultimately affect change at home and around the world.

Where are we staying?

Although most Be2Live Mexico trips stay at Door of Faith Orphanage (www.dofo.org), home to nearly 100 children, we do infrequently stay at the dorms of one of our other partner sites.

How many people will be on my trip?

Each high school trip will be open to the first 50 high school students who register and submit their $290 deposit.

What are the leaders like?

We are proud of our commitment to keep our student to leader ratio at the incredibly low level of seven students for every leader.  The quality of your student’s experience is our primary objective and we think you will see the results in the testimonials from past trips! We are always looking for solid leaders who are willing to walk beside and serve students so they can serve each other and the community. If you are interested, let us know!

What kind of projects will we be doing?

Projects are dependent on the needs of the organizations we work with and the community at the time of our travel. Projects range from construction (concrete, framing, drywalling and painting) to classes, sport and art camps with the children, cooking a meal for the orphans and delivering boxes of basic supplies to needy families in the community. We will also have plenty of time to play with children in the community. The goal of every project is to work alongside the local community under the direction of our partners.

Are there any student pre-requisites?

The only requirement is that you are a current high school student. All over the United States are welcome. Having a flexible attitude and a willingness to serve and learn new skills will help you have a more meaningful week.

What are the student expectations?

In order to make this trip the best experience for you and everyone else who is going there are some expectations, everyone will need to commit to. These expectations are necessary to ensure a fun, safe, and effective trip.

It is important to be a team player while on this trip.
An attitude of flexibility will be very beneficial on this trip. Flexico Mexico!  During the trip you will be expected to hold to the following:

No drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or firearms

No guys in girl’s dorm and vice versa

An adult will always be with the students outside the “campground”

This is an electronic free trip (no cell phones), this helps foster being present to each            other and the community.

Dress code – due to volunteering in a more conservative area of Mexico, work clothes                  consist of basketball length shorts and t-shirts.

How will I know what to expect?

We have a Pre-Trip Team meeting for students and adults who will be going on the trip. There will only be ONE pre-team meeting for each trip.  Content will consist of team building, trip set-up, cultural acquisition, and will help set the tone for our experience. The pre-trip meeting is a high priority and attendance is necessary for you to receive up to 50 service hours.

Is the food and water safe?

Breakfast, filtered drinking water, and snacks are provided by Be2Live. Lunch and dinner are provided by local Mexican cooks. It is the best Mexican food you will ever have.

Is there an application deadline?

No, we accept students on a rolling basis; however, enrolling early will allow you the most flexibility with your first choice of dates. Trips close at 50 students.

What expenses can I expect?

The 2024 Mexico student trip cost is $1,450. The cost includes transportation from San Diego, lodging, community service project costs, all but one meal while in Mexico, Be2Live t-shirt, and our Pre-Trip Team Meeting. Airfare is not included. Upon registration you will receive information about group airfare. In addition, we recommend $100 in spending money.

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes, there are a limited amount of scholarships available. To request a scholarship application, please contact info@be2live.org. We do not want finances to keep anyone from participating!
