Experience service at a whole new level.
The journey of discovering who you are begins with looking into and through the eyes of others. A service trip to Mexico is just that. Join us in Mexico as we serve others and discover who you were born to be. We are confident that a week in Mexico will forever change your life and how you see the world and will be a catalyst for you to be a world changer back at home.
During the week we will live and work alongside organizations and ministries that are already doing amazing work every day in La Mision and surrounding communities. Join us in doing service responsibly where everyone serves, everyone is honored, and everyone wins.
- Be inspired by people and leaders who are changing their world in their communities.
- Take a week to breathe and refocus your life away from the stresses of life.
- Work hard doing projects that will change people’s lives.
- Take time to consider justice issues in our world today such as immigration, cyclical poverty, and orphan care.
- Spend time considering and discovering a purposeful life.
- Take what you have learned home to change the world around you.
Where are we going?
We will be going to La Mision, Mexico. La Mision is one hour south of San Diego right along the Baja coast.
We believe that everyone has a desire to know their lives matter and can make a difference in this world. This is especially true among teenagers. We have seen both high school students and adults become more alive as they join God in what he is doing in this world- caring for the poor, orphans and widows. When we serve, our lives are impacted and changed as well as the lives of those with whom we interact.
It is our hope that these trips are a catalyst to help us live more intentionally focused on God and others when we return home. Mexico is a reminder that our lives do matter and that we can ultimately effect change at home and around the world.
Where are we staying?
Although most Be2Live Mexico trips stay at Door of Faith Orphanage (www.dofo.org), home to nearly 100 children, we do infrequently stay at the dorms of one of our other partner sites.
How many people will be on my trip?
Each high school trip will be open to the first 45 high school students who register and submit their $250 deposit.
What are the leaders like?
We are proud of our commitment to keep our student to leader ratio at the incredibly low level of five students for every leader. The quality of your student’s experience is our primary objective and we think you will see the results in the testimonials from past trips! We are always looking for solid leaders who are willing to walk beside and serve students so they can serve each other and the community. If you are interested, let us know!
What kind of projects will we be doing?
Projects are dependent on the needs of the organizations we work with and the community at the time of our travel. Projects range from construction (concrete, framing, drywalling and painting) to classes, sport and art camps with the children, cooking a meal for the orphans and delivering boxes of basic supplies to needy families in the community. We will also have plenty of time to play with children in the community. The goal of every project is to work alongside the local community under the direction of our Mexican partners.
Are there any student pre-requisites?
The only requirement is that you are a current high school student. Our July trip is open to incoming freshmen. Having a flexible attitude and a willingness to serve and learn new skills will help you have a more meaningful week.
What are the student expectations?
In order to make this trip the best experience for you and everyone else who is going there are some expectations, everyone will need to commit to. These expectations are necessary to ensure a fun, safe and effective trip.
It is important to be a team player while on this trip.
An attitude of flexibility will be very beneficial on this trip. Flexico Mexico! During the trip you will be expected to hold to the following “Rule of Thumb”:
No guy/girl pairing off
No drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or firearms
No guys in girl’s dorm and vice versa
An adult must always be with the students outside the “campground”
No electronic devices (cell phones, I-pods, PSPs, etc.) cameras are the only exception
How will I know what to expect?
Is the food and water safe?
Breakfast, filtered drinking water and snacks are provided by Be2Live. Lunch and dinner are provided by the cooks at Open Arms Day Care. It is American safe and the best Mexican food you will ever have!
Is there an application deadline?
No, we accept students on a rolling basis; however enrolling early will allow you the most flexibility with your first choice of dates. Trips close at 45 students.
What expenses can I expect?
The 2020 Mexico student trip cost is $1,000. The cost includes transportation from San Diego, lodging, community service project costs, all but one meal while in Mexico, Be2Live t-shirt and our Pre-Trip Team Meeting. Airfare is not included and will be charged separately, at cost, once it is secured. You will be able to opt-out of airfare if you prefer to secure your own flight, however, your student will need to be on the same flights as our group. In addition, we recommend $50-$100 in spending money.
As a service to you and to reduce administrative work and follow-up, trip payments are set up as four monthly payments of $250 each for a total of $1000. All but $250 is refundable up until 60 days before the trip date.
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, there are a limited amount of scholarships available. To request a scholarship application, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not want finances to keep anyone from participating! At the same time, our partnership with Pure Charity creates an easy way for you to fundraise for your trip. We encourage you to do both if finances are a hurdle to your participation.
Please call or email us with any questions you have about Be2Live. We will be in touch to answer any questions you have about the experience.
