This was our last full day here in Mexico. The students have worked hard and played hard.
This morning we divided into three worksites and finished what we could to get our projects further along for next week’s group.
Then for lunch, we all went to a local taco shop for some of the best carne asada tacos. I want to apologize for now if Mexico has ruined tacos for these students as I’m not sure if they will find better ones in the U.S. After lunch, we headed back to camp to rest and clean up. Then at 4 pm, we headed down to the orphanage to play with the children (tag, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, soccer, baseball, kite flying were all played.) Then we had all had pizza.
Tomorrow we plan to leave here around 9:30 am to head to the border. We are hoping that the border crossing isn’t too long. We should be in line by 10:15 am. The time to cross could take anywhere from an hour to 4 hours. I will send an email to everyone once we are crossed. Then please check the flight status for our arrival time. Hopefully, there are no delays.
So here are questions to consider asking your student about the week:
- What was it like crossing the border?
- What was the border wall like?
- What was your favorite work site, and why?
- Who did you meet from Mexico and share a little bit about who they are?
- What is something you learned?
- What was the most impactful part of the trip?
It has been a great week with your student, and we are grateful that you trusted us to journey with them for the week. There were a lot of meaningful moments and discussions about life. We hope this week has been a meaningful and positive experience for your student and that we have been able to effectively partner with you in speaking love and truth into their lives.
There will not be any pictures posted from today.
Thank you!
