Today was our last full day here in Mexico. Tomorrow we head home.
This morning we finished all the projects we started. Painting cabinets, cleaning up our paint, and painting the pantry.
Then the students played with the kids at the orphanage as we had a big pizza party as the kids were home from school for the day. But the kids still had tutoring from 1-4. When they finished their tutoring we had our last play time and started saying goodbye.
We then headed to our favorite taco shop. For some of the best in northern Baja, taco Richies. Others went to Maganas for birria and fish tacos.
Finally tonight we had our final team time.
It’s been a great week with a lot of God moments and experiences.
Re-entry back home for some students can be a little rough. We have spent the last week, disconnected from life back at home. Some students will talk your ear off until 2 am, others will be silent trying to process what just happened this last week.
We did do a lot of processing tonight. So give your student the space they need, they will eventually share.
Questions to consider asking:
— what was it like crossing the border and the border wall?
– what was the orphanage like? Did you connect with any of the children?
– what were some of the projects you did?
– who did you meet on the trip that you hadn’t met before?
What was the most impactful part of the trip?
Thank you New Vintage. You have a great youth group and great students. They worked hard, played hard and loved big. We hope to have you all back next year!
