Today started out EARLY! as we all got up at 6:30 am to clean, pack the vans and head north to Rancho Genesis. We left shortly after 9 am.
Once on site we took a tour of the amazing camp and then had lunch (it was a 2 hour drive north). Rancho Genesis provides a camp experience for children living in an orphanage. This is a brand new camp and will receive their first children on Monday. They had so much work to do to be ready. Our group did an amazing job of:
- Painting booths for a fair (carnival type games)
- Cleaning and preparing beds and bunks
- drywalling rooms
- cleaning and organizing storage unites
- building 11 new picnic tables
- Picking up garbage
- and other odd jobs
Again, it was a hot, dry and dusty day!
Then we headed to Ensenada where we are staying tonight. It’s called Yugo Ministries. We are staying at their housing facilities.
Tomorrow we hope to head to the border by 9 am. We should be in the border line by 11am. If all goes well, we should be in the United States by 2 pm. I will post on here when everyone is in across the border. We will grab lunch before heading to the airport.
PLEASE CHECK THE FLIGHT STATUS FOR ANY DELAYS!!
It has been a long, dusty and meaningful work. I hope that all the students will be able to process the trip with you. They were able to get a lot accomplished this week and make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people here in Mexico.
