We had a great evening of games and discussion from our day. It is always interesting to hear people’s thoughts and perspectives on what they see and hear during the week.
This morning we divided into two teams. 9 students continued working on a house for a single mom whose son goes to the local day care. They have been living in a run down trailer/house. It had been full of mold and not healthy. Today they worked on framing the upstairs of the new house. It was slow at times as we tried to figure out what was level and square. This is sometimes the case. But they figured it out with the help of Chevo, our Mexica. “Foreman.”
The other team traveled up the hill to Sal’s house. A group of students moved some rock and then began trenching for interior footers for block walls. Another group went to a local brick kiln to pick up hand made bricks for the house.
We had lunch at the day care and went back to our worksites.
Tomorrow we will work a half day before heading to the beach for some fun and rest. We will also eat out at a local restaurant for dinner.
Tomorrow’s blog will probably be much later because of our activities for the day.
There are pictures on our Instagram and Facebook page. I will try to get a video up tomorrow as well.
