Everyone was pretty tired last night so most if not everyone got a good nights rest. This morning we headed to breakfast at the kitchen which is down a steep hill from our dorms. Soon after breakfast we had our solitude time (time for students to journal, read and pray).
Then we divided into two work sites: concrete and drywall/paint.
The daycare has two playgrounds, swings and a big soccer field the kids can play on. Up until the last two weeks there weren’t many sidewalks. So when the kids came back in from playing they would track dirt and mud back into the building. This made for more work and more clean up. But pouring sidewalks for the daycare will help keep kids shoes clean and the day care clean.
The other group went to a small house in town that the daycare had been helping build for a family. The husband/father had recently passed away. The children attend the day care. So the team started taping and mudding plus started painting the house. We hope to be able to finish it this week.
After lunch a group of students delivered food to a few houses in the community, others played with the children at the day care. Sidewalk chalk, coloring, games, soccer, basketball and other activities were done between our students and their kids. It was fun watching them all interact.
Tomorrow will be a very similar day as what to day was.
