This morning we woke up to clear sunny skies.
After breakfast we spent 13 minutes in solitude time. It’s a time set aside for us to sit in silence and think about life, journal, pray, and listen. Many students who come on these trips say this is one of their favorite things about the trip.
We then broke into work groups. One group went to a house to start stuccoing the side. It’s a family if 5 living in a small two bedroom house. Their original house burnt down in 2019 when fires ripped through their town of La Mision. Be2Live has partnered with this family the last few years helping them get back on their feet. We hope to finish stuccoing by Thursday.
The rest of the group stayed at the orphanage. It was our plan to get a lot of painting done today. But once we arrived, they were missing some of the supplies that were needed. So we shifted to clean and preparing the walls for paint, organizing their school room, picking up garbage, and other needed projects that had been out off.
This afternoon was some great time hanging out with each other and playing soccer, basketball, tag, and other games with the children at the orphanage.
Tomorrow we should have the needed supplies so we can get back to our original projects as well as stuccoing.
Everyone is doing well and connecting with each other
