Sorry for the late post…It was a long, but good day.
Today was super hot here, the upper 80s, plus it was very windy this morning.
With the heat and wind, the students still worked hard. We continued filling in the ditch for the piping, painted shelves, finished painting the wall around the basketball court, picked up a lot of garbage around the campus, another group went to La Mision to deliver baby formula to a mom and a newborn, to name a few things we did all before lunch.
Lunch was some amazing Tamales!! The ladies who are cooking for us this week are amazing.
Then we headed to the beach for some much-needed R&R. Most of the students got into the water, swam, jumped in the waves, boogie boarded, picked up seashells, and walked the beach. After our time there we had dinner at a restaurant that overlooked the Pacific Ocean. As the sunset, we jumped back into our vans and headed back to camp.
Everyone was really tired from the work, heat, sun, and fun. Everyone is doing great. They have been willing to jump in and do what needs to be done, plus a great attitude willing to learn new things and be challenged.
Tomorrow we will continue working at the orphanage and then we will have the children up for some S’mores. It is supposed to be hot against tomorrow so we will be sure everyone is drinking plenty of water.
